European High-Performance Infrastructures in Turbulence
The EuHIT consortium is a continuation of the integration process which has begun in the past two years with establishing three major scientific initiatives:
- The International Collaboration for Turbulence Research focusing on particles in turbulence (ICTR)
- The Center for International Cooperation in Long Pipe Experiments focusing on boundary layers (CICLoPE)
- The European Consortium on Turbulence in Cryogenic Helium that focuses both on ultra high turbulence levels and on quantum effects (EuTuCHe)
Eight Research Infrastructures within the EuHIT Consortium will provide access to turbulence infrastructures equipped with cutting-edge research tools for the investigation of
- boundary layer flows, transition to turbulence and fully developed turbulence
- turbulence statistical properties as a function of turbulence level
- turbulent convection and heat transport
- mixing and dispersion in turbulent flows
- inertial and large particle dynamics in turbulent flows
- turbulence in multiphase flows and complex fluids
- quantum turbulence
The project coordinated by Eberhard Bodenschatz has applied for funding within the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union.
