EuHIT Turbulence Conference

Göttingen, Germany

The European High Performance Infrastructure Program EuHIT is organizing an international conference of broad interest. The conference aims to document the strength and importance of turbulence research across Europe and the World. The conference is to demonstrate the advantages of innovation through integration of research communities and infrastructures. Representatives of the industrial R&D groups involved in turbulence research and officials from the research infra structures operating institutions are particularly welcome to participate at the conference. The EuHIT Partner institutions will also present their cutting edge infrastructures and innovative research results. The participation of young researchers is most welcome. The conference will take place May 2-3, 2016 at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization.

Following the conference on May 4, 2016 the last periodic meeting of the consortium will be held. It will focus on the interaction of the EuHIT research groups and on the cross-flow of ideas between theoretical, experimental and numerical turbulence research communities. It will critically assess the added value and the beneficial effects of the innovative approach to the experimental research resulting from the joint exploitation of the integrated Research Infrastructures.

Keynote Speakers

P.K. Yeung (The Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering, Georgia Tech):
High-Reynolds-Number Turbulence in a Petascale Computational Laboratory

A. Schröder (Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology, German Aerospace Center, DLR, Göttingen): Shake-The-Box: 3D Lagrangian particle tracking for turbulence characterization at high particle image densities
