- Rotating platform with a tank 13 m in diameter and 1.2 m in height;
- Unique installation for the study of turbulence influenced by rotation and/or density stratification;
- Particle Imaging Velocimetry (PIV) systems for time resolved velocity fields in both horizontal and vertical planes of up to 3 m × 4 m in size.
The «Coriolis» rotating platform, equipped with a tank 13 m in diameter and 1.2 m in height, is a unique installation for the study of turbulence influenced by rotation and/or density stratification. This is a key feature of turbulence in natural environments, and in some industrial flows. These effects induce strong turbulence anisotropy and wave-turbulence interactions that are of great interest for the fundamental understanding of turbulence.
