The wind energy department at the Risø campus of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) employs 140 persons. The research at the department concerns different aspects of wind energy, atmospheric flow and turbulence dispersion processes. The department has a very
long experience with EU projects and is currently involved with many. The department has a machine shop and several large computer clusters both used previously for the subjects in EuHIT.
Main tasks in EuHIT: DTU develops the shadow particle tracking velocimetry technique of WP25, which shall be tested and optimized at DTU, and later deployed at the larger facilities in Europe. The large advantage of the technique is the potential of measuring very rapidly with a minimum of illumination.
