Abstract

This project will bring together in a common reference flow several local anemometers based on different technologies and working principles.

The experiment will take place in the SF-6 wind tunnel of Göttingen (Max-Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization), which is eqipped with an active grid. The local anemometers will be thermal (hot wires and hot films) and dynamic-pressure ones (miniature Pitot tubes and cantilevers) from 6 research groups from France, Germany, Israel and the United States.

A central motivation is to compare quantitatively the signals from the different probes and learn more about the relative response of the probes.
