Abstract

The aim of the present proposal is to conduct a measurement campaign in Cottbus (BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, Germany), to investigate the possible signatures of inertia gravity waves in a real rotating annulus setup. Meanwhile, a series of numerical simulations will also be carried out using the geometric parameters of the BTU wave tank. The existing experimental configuration at BTU would be slightly modified by inserting a co-rotating digital thermometer (or an array of thermometers), attached to the inner side wall of the rotating cavity, at the bottom region, where the maximum effect of inertia gravity waves is expected to occur.
